This was my first time finally deciding to play an indie visual novel, and I did not regret it at all. The chosen visual style is simply impossible to take your eyes off, and the story and its presentation allowed me to keep interest in the plot until the very end.
The author needs much more recognition and popularity, people need to see this!
i am currently working towards a degree in religious studies and i am not kidding when i say this is one of the most affecting things on the topic i've seen and read in the past few years. pulled so many fun and unexpected emotions out of me... gorgeous work, i am a long-term fan!!!!
that's odd... it is the end of the demo, but there should be a screen telling that and teasing the next chapter at the end with some new music... in replaying it on my end i got the same bug. gonna update it now >_<
should be fixed! just copy over the updated game files into the folder with the old one (replacing files w/ same name in destination) and it should end properly
hey im sorry i um. was never able to recreate this? maybe it was on an older version or something... does it still happen on the most recent update? & was it for windows, mac, or linux?
Thanks for making this VN! In terms of tone, atmosphere, and visual direction, it’s honestly pretty special to me, and the religious community you’ve portrayed feels very believable, problematic trans integration and all. To me there’s also a very unsettling aura here that works well with the main character’s recent trauma - and to foreshadow the situation at the convent. I also love the poetic/prayerful language you use to convey Mala’s inner emotional turmoil.
Also… I am very much taking a liking to Casna, even though I also recognize the red flags as of the end of day two.~ I can understand why Mala told her big sister everything’s fine there… And given that Velika seems remorseful over what she did, I’m really curious to find out more about her!
Anyways, great work and I look forward to reading more!
hehe thank you >w< i worry i'm being A Bit Much with her self-hating mishmash of misinterpreted bible verses and TV preacher quotes but i find them really fun to piece together in a sort of décollage kinda way... Časna is also my sister's favorite and we worked on building her character a lot together! She's probably the most interesting imo and definitely the most volatile, but nobody is gonna finish where they started, for better or for worse (mostly for worse). I am so so excited I might just release another update when I finish day 3 here... I'm really glad you like my weird freak dogs tysm <3
this is so excellently well made. i love the artstyle, i love the writing style, i love the narrative. i love the pure feeling of dread that mala embodies. just gorgeous and delicious
wawawa tyyy ^_^ its my first experience with writing something where its like "things are fucked up and theyre just gonna get worse and there's no way to save yourself" and that kind of feeling, which is my favorite thing to feel from any story ever (like, say, the Safdie brothers filmography or Madoka Magica for two fave examples) so i'm really glad ppl r liking it and getting that kinda vibe hehe...
This is exemplary work, both technically and narratively
Using RPGmaker is always something that'll be a challenge because of how restrictive it is compared to other engines but you showed that you truly do know you craft and the strengths of your tools. The only bit I didn't like was the... end? You say on your page that you only go up to day 2 and after the day 3 chapter cover it just kinda weirdly looped, which isn't that graceful of a landing
But aside from that, this is so fucking amazing. The presentation is wonderful, I love the color palette and rough photobashed style of the sprites :3
Narratively speaking this had viscerally impactful moments of trauma and abuse with a weight I have rarely experienced in other games, and easily makes this into one of the Top 10 Gut Punches to read
I played the entire demo like a deer in headlights. I don't know what to say other than you're a very good writer and this was very impactful and painful in a good way.
